Snow far so good

Was loving being @ Waterloo on Saturday as the arctic heavens opened and a delicious dusting hit the big city.

It was chaos all round - my train didnt have a driver, kids separated from parents, dog bowls frozen an I was heading 10 miles out into the wilderness to battle it all!

Twitter had a constant pitter patter of football cancellations and every stop I went past the snow was deeper and heavier!

Soooo exciting though, will I get there? Will I ever get back? The camera struggled to reveal the true terror!

Shoreditch FM Launch

4 .... 3..... 2 ..... 1 ....... Drop the Preshaah!

On a cold and wet December day in November - the 24th 10:00 a new innovative explosion hit the airwaves - Shoreditch Radio.

Broadcasting from the Haggerston Hotel, Del, Rax and producer Quentin fired up the furnaces and got the station global www.shoreditchradio.co.uk

The first song to hit the airwaves - Starry Eyed 'Ellie Goulding' (Russ Chimes Remix)
The man pressing the buttons was yours truly! With a sound and a show not dis-similar to Preshaah FM - The Killing Moon blasted Shoreditch Radio into orbit with me desperately clinging onto the mic stand for comfort.

Nervous, stuttery and starry eyed It was a delight to rocket the station into the moonlight.

This was THE show to kick it all off

Working @ Sky News Radio this Saturday on the sports desk. Was in on Tuesday for a little refresher and this were the 1st story I wrote and its gone straight to air with 0 edits!

Ipswich captain David Norris admits his side are involved in a Championship relegation battle after defeat to bottom side Preston last weekend.

Roy Keane's men lie in 18th, and they're just 3 points off the drop zone.

Speaking on Sky Sports News, Norris is expecting a rocky road ahead.

I also made the cut.

West London Derby - Late Show

Slightly half hearted show this week - Dan only made it for half the show!

I opened in faltering fashion and tried as best I could to battle on but it was incredibly 1 sided.

Previewed the afternoons action and seamlessly slipped into Newcastle Chris Houghton sacking.

Giggles was better behaved this week but that isn't saying much as studio Etiquette goes.

2011 will see a revitalised West London Derby, we're back January 15 as I'm at Sky for FA Cup 3rd round and Dan is playing for FC United of Charlton.

White Riot

You couldn't avoid the action in town this week as the final student demonstrations took place in central London ahead of the MP's vote at 6pm.

I saw the march on Oxford st last week and couldn't help getting involved and joining the route. I was intrigued why my good friend Matt Houlahan was so involved having graduated many years before.

Caught up with him just before the protest and he spoke very profoundly about what they were hoping to achieve and the wider picture of privatized society.

Found myself at the front of the march as it left Trafalgar Square and immersed in the excitement and belief the 500,000+ crowd would make their vote count.

They stood, they were counted.

The Killing Moon
80's beats to make your dance feet

The Killing Moon returns this December to the Horse & Groom, Curtain Rd, Shoreditch. 3/12/10 9pm – 3am

With 80's pop hits and cutting edge indie rock n roll an 80's inspired electro the dance floor will be moving to the sounds that inspired Global hyper colour and Optimus Prime.

Twinned with The Killing Moon radio show which launched www.shoreditchradio.co.uk the night will take the atmosphere of the airwaves and bring it to life at the Horse and Groom.

Inspired by the film Donnie Darko – the soundtrack, style a depiction that the 80’s were cool, had fantastic music and tremendous fashion.

The night is predominantly music from the 1980’s with fresh Indie and electro sounds inspired by the era to get people dancing and smiling. The music triggers happy memories of songs you haven’t heard for a while sparking emotions and feelings from various moments of the delightful decade.

In fitting with the film and Shoreditch scene expect to hear Talking Heads, Ultravox, Depeche Mode, Joy Division sliced up with Friendly Fires, The Drums and We are Scientists.

The vibe will be party to start the weekend in fun filled fashion!

This week's show was emotional for many reasons, tears, ties, times changing?

Summer certainly felt like it was back in many ways after the Shoreditch festival and a few late night late sun sets ..

We also see about a dozen Heart/Hit Music stations merged into 15 and the commercial radio airwaves get that bit duller.

My week newscasting has refelcted the digital economy bill - economising radio for? I was reading news across 4 separate stations economising the Adventure group to the MAX.

Eduardo Off

I was slightly pleased to hear the news Eduardo was being linked with moves away from Arsenal, when he didn't travel with the team to Austria the impending deals were almost sealed.

Wasn't until last night when I really thought about his record with us, how exciting and fresh he was, scoring for fun - the game against Everton he played up front on his own and annihilated them!

I remember the Birmingham game so clearing, watching it with Lisa in my flat in Whitechapel, the 15min delay, the Clichy pen in the last minute and big Willy crying. We were top of the league then and looked closer then ever to re-claiming our title!

I checked on his progress almost daly at stages hoping and willing him to get back and was delighted to see him walking, running and training again!

There were brief flashes against Burnley in the FA Cup and a few other moments when he looked to be back but a plague of other injuries meant he struggled to get back his early form.

The Celtic Penalty Bollox saga that ensued at the start of last season I think did more lasting damage than fucking Martin Taylor, after the 2 footed Uefa Fifa blow he never did really recover.

The headder against West Ham last season was a brief glimps of his talent and I hope he plays with head and heart at Shaktar and we see him really become the player he so nearly did for The Arsenal.
