Shoreditch News 31-3

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed outside a Mile End on Saturday night.

Paramedics were called at around 4.30am, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Arts organisations in Hackney were holding their breath yesterday as the funding axe finally fell.

The announcement from Arts Council England brought a mixture of joy and disappointment for venues, theatres, galleries and arts groups around the borough.

Among those hit hardest was Shoreditch-based Theatre Centre, the UK’s oldest drama company for young people, which will lose 14.7 per cent of its ACE cash between 2012 and 2015.

Robin van Persie will be assessed by Arsenal's medical staff, after picking up another injury while on international duty.

He scored the opening goal in the Netherland's 5-3 win over Hungary, but was forced off after forty minutes with a leg problem.

Weather - Damp and drizzly at first, but it should brighten up by afternoon with some sunshine. Feeling pleasantly warm, despite rather blustery southwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 18 °C. Sunset in Shoreditch is 19:31

Beau & Arrow straight throught my heart

Beau & the Arrows - The Fix
Released 4/4/11
'Hope & Release Records'

My first hearing of this record just melted every string in my heart.

The longing, beautiful, romantic frustration in which the single ends leaves you wanting so much more as fires through in a heartbeat.

A stunning debut from this South London four piece - with distinction, grace and hopeful emotion.

This song gets the girl/guy and wraps them close to you hugging away any troubles, soothing your doubts, leaving you believing - they will be with you in the morning.

Brentfrod 2 1 Carlisle

A superb determind 2 1 win for Brentford against Carlisle in league one.

A brace from Jeffery Schlupp in ten second half minutes was enough to secure the win.

Carlisle pulled one back from a Lubomir Michalik free kick but the Bee's held on for the win.

The two sides contest the Johnson's Paint Trophy at Wembley next Sunday, let's hope for more of the same!

Reading History - repeating itself

The Reading Festival has been sneak leaked online which has perked up a really muckky Monday.

Emma also forwarded me a link for the Strokes record so that's helped me get over the crushing updates I read :'(

We went on the Saturday last year - Daniel Garvey Esq, John Simmit, Colum, Jappy, another simO mate, my friend Steve Xfm, his goony mates - Debs and Jav + some other festivities'

Rocked up lunchish time on the Sat, faffed round for ages before getting into and onto the festival around 4ish.

It was such a great day in everyway, we hung near the lighting rig an kept reconvening there after each set - Libertines, Cribs, Arcade Fire.

Forking great guns, no camping, no wellies just wholesome city slicking Indie rock n roll.

The line up this year looks tepid but Stroke & Pulp are worth the adventure (Daniel an I saw Pulp subheadline Stroke in 2002 but that is another gay as story)

West London Derby Previews

We're back with a bang this week.

Dan is flying high after his storming BBC 606 show producing Robbie Savage last weekend up in Sheffield.

I might mention once or twice I read the sport to the nation for Sky last weekend too!

Enough of reflections, lets look ahead to what looks like a fine points haul for our West London Derby sides.

Press Play .....

Fulham v Blackburn Rovers Saturday 3pm

Fulham welcome Blackburn Rovers to Craven Cottage in a basement battle at the bottom of the Premier League.

While neither side are in the relegation zone the distance between the drop spots is perilously close.

Mark Hughes men have picked up six points in their last six games but are without a win in five.

Rovers have conceded more goals on their travels than any other side while Fulham are the third lowest home scorers in the division.

Preshaah prediction 1-0

QPR v Leicester City Championship Saturday 3pm

QPR welcome Leicester City to Loftus Road on a run of 10 games unbeaten in the Championship.

Neil Warnock's men are 5 points clear at the top of the table and head into the match after back to back wins over Boro' and Ipswich.

Leicester City have a neutral goal difference, QPR are +36 which is 18 ahead of nearest rivals Swansea City.

A win for QPR will keep them on track to clinch top spot and whittle away any worries over goal difference.

Preshaah Prediction 2-0

Hartlepool v Brentford League one Saturday 3pm

Brentford travel to Hartlepool in League One on a run that has seen them pick up three wins from their last five outings.

The club are undefeated since Nicky Foster took charge, he has since been appointed permanent manager until the end of the season.

Hartlepool's defence has resembled that of a sieve at times this season conceding 4 against Oldham, Brighton and Peterborough in recent weeks.

The Bee's haven’t scored 4 in a league match since the 30th of October so it could be slim pickings as 13th hosts 14th.

Preshaah prediction 1-2

Blackpool v Chelsea Premier League (Mon 8pm)

Chelsea take a trip to the seaside on Monday night as they visit Blackpool.

When the two sides met earlier in the season the Blues romped away 4-0 winners.

The mid week win over Manchester United and Champions League success away at FC Copenhagen could see a similar score line at the pleasure beach.

Chelsea have scored as many goals away on their travels this season as their opponents have at home, 22.

Preshaah prediction 1-2
